What to Watch on Upstream This January 2022

With everything that’s happening around us, now’s a good time as any to stream new content. Streaming platforms like HBO Go and Netflix have new releases you’re probably excited about, but the Upstream platform is not to be left behind because its collection of shows and movies keeps on expanding. 

Upstream is a streaming platform created by Filipinos for Filipinos. It’s not your ordinary streaming platform because the shows are carefully curated and rather diverse. From international to local, you can watch a variety of content. While you’ll definitely have a lot to choose from, Upstream is set to bring you more this month:

World’s End Harem

Based on the Japanese manga series with the same name, World’s End Harem follows a man who wakes up from suspended animation only to discover that men like him are being selected for a repopulation program. World’s End Harem was released on January 14.

National Treasure

National Treasure is a British television drama about a comedian who is considered a “national treasure”. His world is thrown into chaos when he is accused of sexual abuse dating back to the 1990s. National Treasure will drop on Upstream this January 20.

This is the Night 

Set in Staten Island in 1982, This is the Night follows the story of an Italian-American family as they confront life’s challenges. Watch This is the Night starting January 21

The Green Knight on Upstream

Green Knight is a medieval fantasy retelling of Sir Gawan, King Arthur’s headstrong nephew, and the Green Knight, a mysterious giant who appears at Camelot. Catch Green Knight on Upstream this coming January 21. 

Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain 

As the title suggests, Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain follows the life and career of celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain. The documentary features interviews with David Chang, Éric Ripert, and some members of the crew from Bourdain’s Parts Unknown. Roadrunner is set to be released on Upstream this January 24.

Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street 

Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street is a documentary film that traces back the history of the iconic children’s television program, Sesame Street. The documentary also spotlights the artists, writers, producers, and educators who created it. Street Gang will be released on Upstream this January 25.

Dear Evan Hansen on Upstream

Dear Evan Hansen follows the story of a high school senior whose life takes a turn following the suicide of his classmate. The film adaptation of the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical is coming to Upstream on January 25.

86 (Episodes 1 – 12 on Upstream)

86 is a sci-fi anime based on Asato Asato’s light novel series. The anime will follow the adventures of those interned in a secret eighty-sixth faction. The first 12 episodes of 86 is coming to Upstream on January 28.
