Beat the WFH blues with this local version of “lo-fi beats to relax/study to”

Move over, lo-fi girl — there’s a new chill playlist in town, and it’s stacked full with Filipino lo-fi goodness.

The lo-fi playlist, which dropped on Wednesday, is the work of students from the UC Santa Cruz Bayanihan Club. Chantel Gee, who drew the illustration, publicized the playlist through the Facebook group Subtle Filipino Traits to commemorate Filipino-American History Month in the US and the beginning of their 2021 academic year.

Not only does this local lo-fi playlist bop hard, but it also has that range.

We’re talking about its tracklist that spans from new-age chillwave beats by grassroots artists, all the way to the classic karaoke songs turned lo-fi. If you ever wanted to listen to Rey Valera’s Naalala Kita as slowed down into a chill tune, then this is your jam.

Pro-tip: left-click on the video to play it in an endless loop. You’re welcome.
