Ben&Ben launches Korean version of hit song ‘Leaves’

Despite the challenges of the ongoing pandemic, it looks like the hallyu craze in the Philippines cannot be stopped. In fact, Pinoy band Ben&Ben has jumped on the train by launching a Korean version of their 2017 hit song Leaves.

In a report by ABS-CBN News, the Korean version came less than a month after Ben&Ben teamed up with singer Young K of the South Korean group Day6.

Ben&Ben released the new version a year after the group topped the search chart of South Korea’s biggest music streaming platform Melon, when a number of Korean artists, including Young K, mentioned “Leaves” as a favorite song.

This isn’t the first time the group sang in Korean. They covered Day6’s “You Were Beautiful,” alongside other popular songs from South Korea. However, this was the first time that a Ben&Ben song was translated into Korean. The Korean translation was done by Sandra Jung.

If you’re an avid music fan, we’re sure you know who they are, but as a refresher, Ben&Ben, formerly known as The Benjamins, is a folk pop/pop rock band. They consist of twin brothers Paolo Benjamin and Miguel Benjamin on acoustic guitars and vocals, Poch Barretto on electric guitar, Jam Villanueva on drums, Agnes Reoma on bass, Patricia Lasaten on keyboards, Toni Muñoz and Andrew de Pano on percussions, and Keifer Cabugao on violin.

Will Ben&Ben’s Korean song be able to reach popularity in Korean shores? Only time can tell. It would be totally exciting if Pinoy talents got more recognized in South Korea.
