BLACKPINK’s ‘Lovesick Girls’ MV gets an update, edits out Jennie’s nurse outfit scene

Not long after the release of BLACKPINK’s ‘Lovesick Girls’ music video, comments about Jennie’s nurse outfit surfaced because some people said she was promoting the sexual stereotype of nurses, which is especially popular during the Halloween season. The nurse outfit Jennie wore included a fitting white dress, high heels, and a nurse cap with a heart symbol on it. In the scene this outfit showed itself, Nurse Jennie was seen writing notes as she diagnosis a dazed and lovesick version of herself.

The comments eventually blew up and the Korean Health and Medical Workers Union eventually took notice. According to them, the scene was sexualizing nurses, which did not help them because nurses are healthcare workers who are most frequently exposed to sexual abuse.

In response to this, YG Entertainment edited the music video to remove the scenes with Nurse Jennie. In the updated music video, we’re left with Jennie being diagnosed just without the nurse version of herself.

Fans were quick to defend Jennie, some of them saying that the outfit wasn’t revealing to begin with.

If you haven’t watched the updated music video yet, you can watch it here:

What do you think? Do you agree with YG’s move to remove Jennie’s nurse scene?
