The scale of Blackpink’s international fame is definitely one to be reckoned with. However, while they’re phenomenal as a group, they definitely aren’t shying away from solo projects. In fact, Rosé is set to release a solo album this week!
Rosé’s album is titled R and will be released later this week on March 12, 2021 2 PM KST, so set a reminder if you don’t want to miss it!
We first got a real taste of her solo endeavor when she performed one of the upcoming album’s tracks, “Gone”, at Blackpink’s livestream concert, The Show. The teaser for “Gone” even already has over 47 million views as of writing even though it was only posted in early January.
Blackpink’s YouTube channel also just posted the teaser for the “On the Ground” music video. This song is going to be the title track for her album and will be released at the same time her album drops.
Blinks everywhere are thrilled that they’ll get to listen to R soon. Not only because it means more content from one of their favorite K-pop artists, but also because this is something Rosé has always wanted to do.
Even in Blackpink’s Netflix film, Light Up the Sky, the majority of her segment was about how much she finds joy and solace in making her own music. Hardcore fan or not, anyone who has seen the documentary knows that expressing herself through the art she creates is so dear to Rosé and something that she doesn’t take lightly.
