BTS Beats Own Record for Most-Viewed Music Video Debut on YouTube with “Butter”

In partnership with FanLife

“Dynamite” by BTS no longer holds the title for the most viewed music video on YouTube within 24 hours. And who broke BTS’ record? Well, still BTS, of course.

BTS, being the global music phenomenon that they are, is no stranger to setting records and making history, and this is just another instance that proves it. The music video of the K-pop group’s latest single, “Butter,” just surpassed the 24-hour view count of their first all-English hit, “Dynamite.” And they managed this feat not even a full year after the latter took the title last August 2020.

“Butter” premiered on YouTube last May 21, and within a day, the music video managed to gain 108.2 million views. This beats the 101.1 million views “Dynamite” got on its first day on the website.

This isn’t the only record that their newest song has already broken either. BTS’ disco-pop track also made waves on Spotify, breaking the streaming platform’s record for most debut day streams with over 20.9 million global streams.

The septet released this track in the hopes of it becoming a summer anthem that brings in the fun vibes to match the season. “It’s also a more upbeat, fresh dance-pop track, like more like a summer anthem. Just all the positive vibes and upbeat energy. That’s it. That’s what Butter’s about,” RM explained in an interview with Billboard.

Well, judging by the success of “Butter” and the positive reactions from fans, they totally nailed it.
