ARMYs did it again!

Following the digital release of their latest single “Butter” last May 21, global K-Pop sensation BTS has now registered five new Guinness World Records, even beating a few that they also previously set!

The May 21 premiere of “Butter” on YouTube posted 3.9 million concurrent viewers, breaking the record for most viewers for the premiere of any video on YouTube, as well as most viewers for the premiere of a music video on YouTube. Amazingly enough, the record for the latter also belonged to BTS when they premiered “Dynamite,” which had 3 million concurrent peak viewers.

Still on YouTube, “Butter” also broke the record for the most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours and most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-Pop group, after amassing 108,200,000 views. The record for both was again previously held by BTS’ “Dynamite” music video, which had 101.1 million view record a day after its release.

“Butter” achieved the same feat on Spotify after the single dropped on the streaming site, setting the record for the most streamed track on Spotify in 24 hours after garnering 11,042,335 global streams. It beat Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber’s 2019 hit “I Don’t Care” which listed 10.977 million global streams.

This handful of new records now brings BTS’ total number of Guinness World Records to 23. And these aren’t even their first world records this year.

Following last March’s Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards, BTS tied American girl group, Fifth Harmony, for the record of having the most Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards by a music group, with five wins apiece.

Then, in April, BTS also became the most-streamed group act on Spotify, having garnered more than 16.3 billion streams on the site. This record was previously held by British band Coldplay, who got beat by a couple of a million streams.

In the same month, “Dynamite” also broke the record for most weeks at Number 1 on BillBoard’s Digital Song Sales Chart after spending 18 consecutive weeks at the top of the charts. The following week, the track was beaten by — yep, you guessed it — another BTS single, “Film Out.”

It’s true what they say: once you’ve done it all, all there’s left to compete with is yourself. Congratulations, BTS!
