Ed Sheeran Tests Positive for COVID-19

British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran has tested positive for COVID-19.

He revealed the news on Instagram, with a post that said: “Hey guys. Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines,” the singer-songwriter posted on Instagram on Sunday. “It means that I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house. Apologies to anyone I’ve let down. Be safe everyone.”

The diagnosis comes just a week before the release of his fourth studio album, = (pronounced “equals”). It’s will be his first full solo album since 2017’s immensely popular Dive.

Aside from his album release, Sheeran was also slated to appear as a guest on Saturday Night Live on November 6. Now, it seems that producers are “scrambling” to replace him, despite his offers to appear via video link. “This isn’t something SNL does,” a source told Page Six. “The show likes to have the performer in studio.”

The pop star is also scheduled to read out I Talk Like a River by Jordan Scott and Sydney Smith on U.K. broadcaster BBC’s CBeebies Bedtime Stories program. The bedtime story will be available on the CBeebies channel and on BBC iPlayer.

Fans can still expect = to be released on October 29th.
