Nine years ago on November 12, Taylor Swift released her album Red. On the same day this year, she released the re-recorded album, a.k.a. Red (Taylor’s Version), and Starbucks celebrated the milestone along with Swifties worldwide. In case you missed it, here’s how it all went down.
It’s Red Season
Days before the release of Red (Taylor’s Version), the coffee giant hinted at the possible collaboration. “It’s Red Season,” Starbucks tweeted, with a coffee, sparkle, red scarf, and heart emoji. Taylor has been known for sending cryptic messages to fans, so naturally, Swifties went into sleuth mode to decode what it meant.
Taylor Swift x Starbucks Collaboration?
Previously, Starbucks offered a Cloud Macchiato drink in collaboration with Ariana Grande. That made fans wonder if there is also going to be a Taylor Swift Starbucks drink after seeing the “Red Season” tweet. However, the news was shot down as the company said in an official statement that they were simply having a listening party in their stores.
Red Listening Party
“The Taylor Swift Listening Party is a global effort of Starbucks. From November 12-13, Starbucks will be releasing Taylor Swift’s songs and new “RED” album through the store’s playlist globally, including the Philippines,” they said. “We will not be hosting any event or activity but will be playing Taylor Swift’s songs in all of our stores this weekend.”
Taylor Swift Starbucks Drink
While there was no special drink to be found, fans could still order T-Swizzle’s favorite drink all year-round. “Just ask your barista for a Grande Non-fat Caramel Latte on your next visit,” they instructed. The timing couldn’t have been any more impeccable since Starbucks was also bringing back their annual red holiday cups and drinks.
More than simultaneously mending and breaking everyone’s hearts over the weekend, Taylor Swift also broke the record for the most-streamed album in a day by a female and the record for the most-streamed female in a day in Spotify history.
