Taylor Swift, who has been the talk of the internet since the release of Red (Taylor’s Version), revealed how she cast the actors for the short film “All Too Well.” Apparently, she only had Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink in mind and didn’t have back-ups for the role. How exactly did these two stars get cast?
Casting the perfect pair
After the premiere of the short film, we could see why Swift thought the pair would be perfect for the role. The Maze Runner actor and Stranger Things actress heard the song before anyone else to make an informed decision. They obviously understood the assignment as their performance was heart-shattering and left the audience lying like a crumpled-up piece of paper.
O’Brien and Sink heard the song first
“I got their numbers and sent them text messages and I had already created an entire treatment and script and like, visual kind of references of what I wanted to do,” Taylor explained to E! News Daily Pop. The Grammy-award winning artist said she provided them all the information like the DP, set design, editing, and producer, and sent them the song ahead of time.
“They had the song before anyone else had the song, and when they said yes, I was so elated because I didn’t have any backups in mind,” Taylor said at the “All Too Well” premiere in New York last Friday.
Bringing the vision to life
O’Brien shares that he didn’t hesitate to take the role and didn’t even know Taylor knew who he was. “She’s like the best person ever, she is so brilliant. So yeah, it was like an automatic yes,” he said. Sink, on the other hand, posted a couple clips from the film on Instagram thanking the singer for her trust, guidance, and being an inspiration. “It was a true honor bringing your vision to life alongside my friend Dylan,” she wrote in the caption.
According to Taylor, “All Too Well” is a coming-of-age film about a specific time in a person’s life when they are between the ages of 19 and 20.
