Australian rapper Iggy Azalea will “take a few years” off music to pursue other things she’s passionate about.
The “Fancy” hitmaker made the announcement on Twitter, saying that her upcoming album “End of an Era” will not be followed up by another album anytime soon.
“‘End of an Era’ is so special to me because after I drop my album next month I am going to take a few years to focus on other creative projects and things I’m feeling passionate and inspired by, beyond music,” she said.
“I’m excited for you guys to see different sides to me in the future.”
She also expressed her excitement about her new endeavors and asked for continuous support from her fans. “Shifting my energy and focus to what I’m most excited about is what is right for me and I hope you’ll continue to support whatever creative projects I’m out here doing!”
“I really love this album and I just want my fans to enjoy this with me. I hope I see so many of you on tour!”
Although Iggy hasn’t specified what she plans to do next, she hinted that one of her “creative projects” will be coming out right after the release of her album in August. She retweeted a message from a fan and replied, “I have the coolest project dropping the week after my album and I can’t wait til you guys see it!”
In June, Iggy released her first beauty-related project, a fragrance called “Devil’s Advocate.” This may be new to her, but she said that the process of developing her own fragrance was something she enjoyed “as much as making music.”
“When I sit down, and I’m writing a song, I’m considering what I want people to feel, even if it’s a party song and the emotion of happiness or chaos even sometimes,” she said.
“I have never really associated that kind of thing with beauty or a product before, because I just hadn’t had that inside experience or the ability to develop something, develop a conceptual idea and the universe of a product. I’ve enjoyed it so much.”
