One of our all-time favorite Christmas hits just turned ‘Diamond!’
Mariah Carey’s 1994 Christmas song “All I Want For Christmas Is You” received a Diamond Award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after selling over 10 million units in the USA alone. This also happens to be the first-ever holiday single to become a certified Diamond!
“The continued love for my song never ceases to amaze me and fill my heart with a multitude of emotions. It blows my mind that ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ has endured different eras of the music industry,” Mariah said.
“I’m so fortunate to have the greatest fans on Earth, my Lambily, who continue to support my legacy. I love you.”
This is the 52-year-old singer’s third diamond award, following her albums “Music Box” and “Daydream.”
Last month, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” was also recognized as the “Greatest Holiday Song of All Time” by Billboard for consistently being at the top of the Holiday 100 chart. Other songs that made it to the top five include “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee, “Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms, “The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You)” by Nat King Cole, and “A Holly Jolly Christmas” by Burl Ives.
Meanwhile, Mariah’s album “Merry Christmas” placed third in Billboard’s “Greatest of All Time Top Holiday Albums” chart. The list is led by the Vince Guaraldi Trio’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas (soundtrack),” and Michael Bublé’s “Christmas.”
