Emmy Award-nominated actress Mckenna Grace is branching out into the music industry.
The 15-year-old star, known for her roles in the horror series The Haunting of Hill House and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, just released her first single entitled Haunted House.
“I just can’t explain how grateful and happy I am to be able to express myself in this way through music,” she posted on Instagram. “Thank you to everyone who has streamed the song! And thank you to everyone who has watched ‘Ghostbusters.’ My heart is full.”
In a statement, McKenna said that “Haunted House”—which she co-wrote with Lily Kincade—can be interpreted in many different ways.
“Over the pandemic, I went through a rough time in my personal life, and I wanted to write a song about how even after someone’s not in your life anymore, their memory never really leaves you,” she said. “You could take it as a breakup song, but it could also be about a friend or a family member or any kind of relationship that’s ended.”
Aside from co-writing and singing the song, she also stars in its accompanying music video which she co-directed with Danny Corey.
It’s been an incredibly busy week for Mckenna whose debut single came out just days after the world premiere of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” where she stars alongside Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Paul Rudd.
She also surprised her fans with the news that “Haunted House” was featured in the end credits of the film.
“Being part of ‘Ghostbusters’ is a highlight of my film journey and having my first single be part of it is one of the greatest honors of my life. I am so grateful and forever thankful,” she said.
