This year’s Lollapalooza got a bit strange.
Rock legend Metallica gave Stranger Things fans quite a treat at Lollapalooza. The band played a clip of Eddie Munson on the wide screens while they played “Master of Puppets.”

Joseph Quinn played Eddie Munson in Stranger Things season four. He was a charismatic character who won the hearts of audiences. Eddie was the leader of a club known as Hellfire at Hawkins High. He plays the electric guitar in his band Corroded Coffin. Eddie sacrificed his life in one of the episodes. He played “Master of Puppets” to trick an army of bats into coming after him. That gave his friends enough time to take out the main villain, but Eddie died moments after.
Released in 1986, “Master of Puppets” hit the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and UK Top 100 Singles Chart. The song peaked at Nos. 35 and 26, respectively.
Eddie’s act of bravery breathed new life into Metallica’s hit. The song skyrocketed on the charts in a few days. And it turns out that the members of Metallica are fans of the Netflix series. They loved how Eddie did the song justice in one of the most thrilling scenes of the season.
Metallica on Joseph Quinn, ‘Stranger Things’
Metallica expressed how they felt about The Duffer Brothers’ incorporation of their music.
“It has always been next level. We were beyond psyched for them to include ‘Master of Puppets’ in the show and have a pivotal scene built around it. It’s an incredible honor to be a big part of Eddie’s journey. We’re in good company with the other amazing artists featured in the show,” the band said.
Joseph Quinn got the chance to meet the band in person at the Chicago festival on July 28. Metallica talked and jammed with the actor backstage. They even gave him an electric guitar signed by all the band’s members.
