MMA fighter Conor McGregor and singer Machine Gun Kelly were close to a physical altercation at the red carpet of the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards last Sunday in New York.
It all began when the Irish fighter allegedly asked for a photo with the rapper, a request that his team denied. Kelly, or his security, reportedly pushed McGregor and spilled his drink, causing McGregor to lunge at Kelly and throw a punch his way.
A video posted by a Twitter user also showed the 33-year old throwing his drink at Kelly and his girlfriend, Megan Fox, who was with him at the time. Security quickly escorted Fox to the side and separated the two before a full-scale brawl could erupt.
A video of the incident can be seen here:
Despite the fight, Kelly and Fox continued on the red carpet and posed for photos. MGK would later go on to perform “Papercuts” onstage with Travis Barker.
McGregor was also seen in the audience, kissing girlfriend Dee Devlin. When asked about the mishap, he asserted that nothing went on.
“Nothing happened with me, I only fight real fighters. People that actually fight,” McGregor said. “I certainly don’t fight little Vanilla Ice white rappers. I don’t even know the guy. I don’t know anything about him, except that he’s with Megan Fox.”
Reps for McGregor denied that the fighter asked for a photo with Kelly and said, “Conor and Dee are in their seats enjoying the show. Conor appreciates all his fans.”
Kelly’s reps have yet to make a comment.
