Nayeon just made Billboard history!
K-pop group TWICE is no stranger to dominating charts with every comeback. So it’s no surprise that Nayeon is doing the same with her solo debut.
On July 3, Billboard announced that Nayeon’s solo debut mini album IM NAYEON cracked into the charts. The album debuted at the 7th spot on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart. Nayeon is the first K-pop soloist in history to break into the top 10. As a group, TWICE had landed in the top 10 two times, making them the only K-pop girl group with two top 10 albums.
It’s also noteworthy that Nayeon’s album was also the best-selling album of the week in the United States. IM NAYEON debuted at the top of Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart for July 9.
Continuing to make history
Nayeon’s history-making ways don’t stop there. It’s been over a month since the IM NAYEON release, she’s continuing to set new records on the Billboard charts.
Nayeon is the first K-pop soloist to enter the top 10. She is now also the first K-pop soloist to have an album spend four weeks on the chart. Her album stayed strong at 135 on the Billboard 200 for the week ending July 30.
Nayeon is breaking even more records across various Billboard charts. She’s also the first K-pop soloist to ever spend four consecutive weeks on Billboard’s Artist 100.
Nayeon is winning everywhere
TWICE is one of the top K-pop artists to ever come out of South Korea. The group tops sales charts and music shows every time they come out with a new album. And it seems that Nayeon has picked up their winning ways.
Besides setting Billboard records, Nayeon is also winning on K-pop music shows. Her debut song POP! received its first win on July 10 on Inkigayo. She recently scored her fourth win on July 24, again on Inkigayo.
Congrats to Nayeon on all her success!
With their collective success, fans have to wonder what’s next for TWICE and Nayeon. Will the group have another comeback soon? Or will another member get their solo debut?
Whatever the future holds, TWICE is sure to reap some rewards.
