Rico Blanco Gushes Over Maris Racal after ASAP Duet

Maris Racal and Rico Blanco made their first performance as a couple on the ASAP Natin ‘To stage last Sunday, September 12. The duet of their first-ever collaboration titled “Abot Langit” trended online and made viewers swoon. The previous week before this, they also shared the same stage, although they did not perform together.

Supportive on-stage Partner

“Aside from this is our first time together in ASAP Natin ‘To, masaya ako (I’m happy) because I get to sing with Rico. Rico, thank you for always supporting me,” Maris said at the end of their performance. The song was first released in April 2019, following the PBB Alum’s manifestations about collaborating with the former Rivermaya singer/songwriter.

Early Birthday Celebration

Maris, who is turning 24 on September 22, also received an early birthday celebration that day. Of course, the couple was teased by Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid after the performance. Coincidentally, the hashtag for the episode was #iheartASAP, so they asked Rico what he loves about his girlfriend. He couldn’t help but gush at the hosts’ remarks about their relationship, and described Maris as an “amazing person.

Rico’s Birthday Message to Maris

Rico’s wish for Maris is that she continued to pursue her passion for music. “Madami kang gusting gawin, narinig ko yung mga bagong kanta niya, marami pa siyang ideas. So, Sana huwag kang ma-frustrate na medyo challenging yung times ngayon,” he said. “Just continue to enjoying doing what you do, because I think if you enjoy the process, you can dream whatever dream [ang gusto mo] marating.

(There’s a lot you want to achieve, I’ve heard your new songs, and you have many great ideas. Hopefully, you don’t get too frustrated about the challenges, especially during this time.)

The couple confirmed their relationship in May 2021, later revealing that they’ve been together even before the pandemic.  Watch their performance of “Abot Langit” below.
