Swifties, rejoice! It looks like Swift is going back to the silver screen. Yes, Taylor Swift joined the cast of an upcoming film by David O. Russell, the director of Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, as per NME.com.
While the film’s title, plot details and release date are still under wraps, the project is said to be a period film, and boasts of a very impressive cast lineup. Swift joins the likes of Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Robert De Niro, Rami Malek, Mike Myers, Zoe Saldana, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Rock, and Michael Shannon in the movie.
Swift’s last movie role was in Cats, the 2019 adaptation of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s musical, for which she also wrote an original song, ‘Beautiful Ghosts’. Albeit its top tier cast, the film garnered a lot of criticisms from critics and fans.
However, there is good reason to believe that this upcoming project will be a huge turnaround for Swift’s film career. After all, this film is Russell’s first film since 2015’s Joy. He is both the screenwriter and director of the project. Knowing the successes of his previous projects, fans can expect a lot from the upcoming flick. It has already wrapped production in Los Angeles, and its release is slated via 20th Century Studios.
Will Swift be releasing another original song for this movie? Is she gunning to win an Oscar? Well, only time can tell. Given Swift’s enormous fan base, it’s safe to say a lot of people will be anticipating this movie.
In the meantime, fans can listen (or re-listen for the millionth time, no judging!) to the re-recorded version of Swift’s album of Fearless, called Fearless (Taylor’s Version). Isn’t Swift the queen of productivity or what?
