The Eraserheads may reunite if VP Leni runs for president, says Ely Buendia

Despite claiming earlier this year that he and his bandmates “were never close,” Ely Buendia says Eraserheads may still reunite… on one condition.

Ely Buendia, the frontman of the legendary OPM band Eraserheads, didn’t beat around the bush when asked about what it would take for the group to get back together again. Apparently, the odds for a reunion now rest on the shoulders of Vice-President Leni Robredo running for the presidential post.

This was one of the responses Buendia gave to an expectant fan during a virtual Q&A session with his Twitter followers on Tuesday. The other two answers, likewise said in jest, were if “Jesus came back” and if fellow four-piece band 4 of Spades also brought back the original lineup.

Albeit just joking, Buendia stirred the hopes of fans who still have their fingers crossed that VP Leni, who still has until October 8 to express her intent, would represent the opposition in the 2022 presidential race.

Presently, six candidates already made their presidential bid public: Senator Panfilo Lacson, Senator Manny Pacquiao, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, failed VP candidate Bongbong Marcos Jr., and labor leader Leody De Guzman, who just announced his plan on Tuesday. Similar to Robredo, Senator Bong Go has yet to finalize his decision to be the administration’s bet for the highest seat in the land.

Should Robredo indeed gun for the position, then Buendia has a lot of tweets to backread, perhaps starting with the one which suggested that the band write a jingle for VP Leni’s campaign?
