The Kid Laroi Is Going On A Hiatus To Focus On His Debut Album

After an eventful year, “Stay” hitmaker The Kid Laroi announced that he will “take some time away from everything.”

The 18-year-old Australian rapper and singer-songwriter penned a message to his fans on Instagram, thanking them for their overwhelming support in the past year.

“It’s been a wild year, to say the least. Seeing the impact of the project and hearing about how it’s helped and changed so many people’s lives is f***in’ beautiful–but also incredibly surreal,” he said.

“It’s the reason why I do this s***. My life has also changed so much this past year because of it and I owe it all to every single one of you. There is no way I will ever be able to repay you.”

He said that thoughts about going on a hiatus first came to him while he was on “a small vacation” and that he will focus on working on his debut album while he’s away.

“During that time I started thinking, and I made the decision that I need to take some time away from everything and focus on the next project; my debut album,” he said. “I’m going to miss you all beyond words can describe, but I do believe that this is what I need to do to give you all the best music possible.”

Although The Kid Laroi hasn’t released his first full-length album yet, he already has successful tracks, including “Without You,” “Stay,” and “So Done.”

A remix version of “Without You” featuring Miley Cyrus became The Kid Laroi’s first song as a lead artist to reach the top 10 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Meanwhile, “Stay,” his second collaboration with Justin Bieber, reached number one on the same chart and peaked at number one in over twenty countries.
