No matter how high Pussycat Dolls member Nicole Scherzinger has reached, she never misses an opportunity to honor her Filipino heritage.

And an opportunity presented itself when she sang her rendition of Regine Velasquez’s OPM classic “Pangako.” Yep, Nicole sang in full-on Tagalog, which is a first-ever for the Filipino-American artist.

Nicole recorded the cover in collaboration with Filipino-American producer and music director Troy Laureta, and with a little help in vocals from Laureta’s younger singer, Filipino-American R&B singer Cheesa.

The performance is a part of Laureta’s project entitled “KAIBIGAN,” a collective featuring other world-class acts like Jake Zyrus, Regine Velasquez, American Idol standout Pia Toscano, and Korean-American singer-songwriter AILEE.

“I really hope that this collaboration makes my Filipino fans proud!” Nicole writes in her caption when he shared the cover on Instagram.
