Ylona Garcia performs at the Rose Bowl

Rising pop star Ylona Garcia rocked her performance at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California on November 6.

The singer performed as part of the Head in the Clouds III (HITC III) music festival for the first time, sharing the stage with performers like Saweetie, CL, Rich Brian, Niki, Joji, and Umi. HITC III is unique in its own right, as it is the first-ever Asian-centric music festival in the U.S.

Audiences present at the stadium got the chance to hear the Fil-Aussie belt out her latest ballad track, “Don’t Go Changing,” as well as her debut single “All That.”

Garcia later took to Instagram to share her gratitude for the warm welcome. “Thank you vv much @88rising for giving me the opportunity to perform at the HITC3 festival with amazing people and for amazing people,” she captioned a photo of herself on stage.

She also quickly became a trending topic on Twitter for her electric performance, even gaining a number of new fans.

Garcia posted a compilation of tweets mentioning her on Instagram, writing,” In case y’all were wondering, for the past few hours I’ve been trying to gather as many tweets as possible that have been sending me nothing but LOVE & SUPPORT for my twenty-minute performance at the #HeadInTheClouds 3 festival. Thank you for appreciating my art, everyone !!”

The 19-year-old is one of the newest editions to the Asian and Asian-American-focused label 88rising, working under its sister company, Paradise Rising. The latter aims to spotlight Filipino artists and music through the genres of hip-hop, pop, and R&B.

While she’s now promoting in the West, Garcia first came into fame when she finished as the first runner-up for the 2015 edition of Pinoy Big Brother. She later went on to make appearances on popular shows like It’s Showtime, Myx, and ASAP before moving back to Australia in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
