This new creature is extremely adorable!
Nintendo Games recently announced the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. There were new Pokemon added to the now 905 in the Pokedex. But one porcine addition to the Pokedex caught the eye of the public. Particularly Filipinos who have loved the entire franchise since the late 1990s. Meet Lechonk!
No, we’re not talking about Cebu’s finest. Lechonk took Twitter by the nose and gained massive popularity by doing what? By existing, that’s what. Yes, it’s that simple.
It helped that Lechonk also sounds like a very popular Filipino dish. You know Pinoys. When they find anything on the internet that’s even remotely Filipino, they’re all over it. Yes, like white on rice. Anyway, here’s a photo of this adorable new Pokemon. How could anyone hate him? I mean, look at him!
The Twitterverse couldn’t help but coo when they saw him. They marveled at how cute and precious Lechonk looked. From his coloring to his round body to his smol pinkish toes, he’s so easy on the eyes!
Lechonk is a Normal type Hog Pokemon. He’s is 1 foot and 8 inches in height and weighs 10.2 kilos. There aren’t many details on his stats out there. But we do know that his abilities are Aroma Veil and Gluttony. Or, to be more accurate, Lechonk can have either of those two. With the upcoming release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, make sure to get him on your team as soon as possible.

Wait, I just realized… is Lechonk's name based on Lechon? As in, Lechon Baboy (Filipino roasted pig dish)? Apparently Lechon is a thing in other countries too, had no idea.— insaneintherainmusic (@insanerainmusic) June 2, 2022
That said… this pig definitely gonna get roasted lol pic.twitter.com/COOWvizURz
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are set for worldwide release on November 18, 2022. While pre-orders are now open, head to your local game store to secure your very own Lechonk.
Gotta catch ‘em all, indeed! (Especially Lechonk!)
