Nicole Scherzinger Sued by Pussycat Dolls Founder

Pussycat Dolls choreographer and founder Robert Antin has sued Nicole Scherzinger over the latter’s refusal to participate in the group’s upcoming reunion tour.

Antin filed a complaint last Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming that Scherzinger requested “complete creative control” and “final decision-making authority.” The complaint also claimed that the former Pussycat Dolls member was previously granted 49% of PCD Worldwide’s shares and profits from the tour and business ventures; now Scherzinger requests 75% of the shares.

Without a renegotiation of the memorandum of understanding’s terms, Scherzinger has allegedly refused to take part in the reunion tour.

The tour was organized in 2019 but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was later rescheduled to May 2021 and then June 2021, but was pushed back once again due to the pandemic.

Currently, tour dates are still pending amidst the conflict between Scherzinger and Antin.

Antin claimed in the complaint that “tour dates were planned but are unable to be confirmed because of Scherzinger’s extortion.” As a result, entertainment company Live Nation is demanding the return of the $600,000 it invested in the tour.

“SCHERZINGER, by her actions described herein, has breached the MOU between the parties, and frustrated the purpose of a binding contract in bad faith,” the complaint read. “SCHERZINGER’s conduct effectively extorts Plaintiffs for a significantly greater benefit at the direct expense of the other parties to the MOU and all other third parties who relied on SCHERZINGER’s full performance.”

Scherzinger has yet to comment on the issue.

The Pussycat Dolls rose to fame in the early 2000s as a six-member girl group informally led by Scherzinger. Songs like “Don’t Cha,” “Buttons,” and “When I Grow Up” hit the charts, leading the group to worldwide fame. However, they disbanded in 2010 due to internal conflict.

Their reunion tour was officially announced in 2019.
