From her music to her own Disney+ documentary, it’s no secret that Olivia Rodrigo has a lot going on. She’s also set to return to High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. But some drastic changes were made to her role.
In December 2021, Disney confirmed that Olivia will reprise her role in HSMTMTS. The announcement came after months of speculation about her status. But sources say Rodrigo’s character will only recur in season three. This change can have a significant effect on her storyline.
Nini Roberts becoming a recurring character means she won’t be as involved in the show. While there could be many reasons for this decision, Olivia Rodrigo’s rise to fame most likely caused this. She must not have as much time as she did before to film an entire season of the show.
What will happen to Olivia Rodrigo in season three?
HSMTMTS season three began filming in January 2022. The story is set at Camp Shallow Lake in California. This is a fresh take on the show as audiences are used to seeing the cast in Salt Lake City. Some say the location change came about as an attempt to cater to Rodrigo’s schedule. The Wildcats will be at summer camp, where we’ll see them stage their own version of Frozen.
We’re still a couple of days away from the Disney series’ third season as it is set to premiere this month. But, worry not because Olivia is set to have another project on Disney+ soon.
We at FreebieMNL hope to see more from Olivia Rodrigo in HSMTMTS. Like most of you, we’re also hoping for the best for Ricky’s relationship with Nini. Their chemistry was an important part of the show in previous seasons, after all.
