Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) is once again opening its doors and is looking for new housemates. Auditions are currently held through the KUMU app and among the thousands of people who auditioned is Neil Salvacion, the ex-boyfriend of Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo.
Aspiring Housemate
Salvacion expressed his desire to become a part of PBB’s 10th season on his KUMU account on September 7. The 27-year-old was dressed in his scrubs and introduced himself as a nurse from Iloilo City. His intention to become a housemate was to show viewers the struggles of frontliners during the pandemic and share his side of the heartbreak.
In his audition piece, he explained that he was supposed to go abroad but instead chose to stay in the Philippines to serve as a frontliner. His everyday routine is limited to going to the hospital and his home. He adds that sometimes, he witnesses his patients’ final moments. There even came a time that the COVID nurse had to isolate himself from loved ones out of fear that he could have contracted the virus.
The Battle of Two Crowns
Despite the already devastating situation, what hurt him most was being left by the one he loves for the crown — alluding to the former Miss Universe. Coronavirus and the Crown are only some of the challenges he has faced in life and Salvacion concludes this has prepared him for more challenges to come his way.
Salvacion’s audition tape was not well-received and he was criticized for using his relationship with Rabiya Mateo to gain popularity. The couple confirmed their split earlier this year in June after being together for seven years. At that time, they assured their followers that the decision was mutual and that they’re both happy with their lives.
