Rex Orange County Charged With Sexual Assault in the UK

Is this why he was so emotional at his last concert?

Alexander O’Connor, known as Rex Orange County, is now facing six counts of sexual assault. The woman who filed the case claimed to have been assaulted by the singer on six occasions.

The woman accused the musician of assaulting her twice in the West End on June 2021 and four more times the next day. Including three times in a taxi and once at his Notting Hill home. According to reports, the woman is older than 16.

On Monday, October 10, O’Connor denied every accusation before London’s Southwark Crown Court. he pleaded not guilty to the six charges, and the judge granted him unconditional bail. The court has scheduled a preliminary trial for January 3.

O’Connor postponed the international part of his summer tour on July 2 due to “unforeseen personal circumstances.” He made no mention of any legal issues at the time.

His representative issued a statement on the matter. “Alex is shocked by the allegations, which he denies, and looks forward to clearing his name in court. He is unable to make any further comment because of the ongoing proceedings.”

He first gained attention as Rex Orange County with his appearances on Tyler, the Creator’s 2017 album. “Corduroy Dreams,” “Pluto Projector,” and “Sunflower” are a few of his top hits.

He was supposed to hold a concert in the Philippines in 2020. But his performance plans got canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
