Jackie Chan Officially Confirms “Rush Hour 4” Is In The Works

The iconic Lee and Carter duo is back!

Action star Jackie Chan recently announced that “Rush Hour 4” is in the works.

Chan announced the news at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia. At the event, he spoke about his 60 years in the film industry.

During his address, he discussed many things about his career. From Hong Kong movies to how he was groomed to be Bruce Lee’s successor following the actor’s death in 1973. Chan even performed “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” at the crowd’s request.

The actor then discussed how his film success garnered the attention of Hollywood. This led to his team up with Chris Tucker for 1998’s “Rush Hour,” a collaboration that would last for two more films. Afterwards, Chan then announced “Rush Hour 4,” adding that he was meeting with a director to discuss the script.

The original “Rush Hour” grossed US$244 million worldwide for New Line Cinema. The film cemented Chan’s reputation as an English-language action hero. Yet, Chan shared he expected the picture to underperform at the box office. He said that he wanted to leave Hollywood owing to the lack of exciting roles.

“I tried so many times to go to Hollywood, but after that, I said no more Hollywood because my English is not good, they’re not my culture, they don’t like this kind of action,” he says.

Chan stated that he only received scripts about East Asian detectives in America. Yet, he was eager to broaden his creative horizons when the “Rush Hour” script came across his desk.

“Rush Hour 4” has yet to have a confirmed production date. You can expect filming to start around mid-2023 with a 2024 release.
