It hasn’t been a week since Sunshine Dizon’s surprisingly signed with ABS-CBN, and she’s already set to star in a teleserye!

After 25 years of playing iconic roles where she excelled as either the bida or the kontrabida in GMA-7 shows, Sunshine Dizon shocked the showbiz industry by making the jump to rival network ABS-CBN.

In a press conference last Friday, April 30, the multi-awarded actress shared that the move marked “a new season” in her career, and that it was something she felt she “needed to do.” She also said that the shift was “meant to be,” despite the network having been stripped off a franchise since July last year.

“To be honest, I’ve only had a very simple prayer with regards to my career. I’ve always asked the lord to plant me where I will bloom, and in all the seasons of my life, I’ve trusted his will. So when this opportunity came, I just knew in my heart na ito na ‘yung bagong phase,” Dizon said while explaining the timing of her network shift.

“I am old and hopefully wise enough to know and understand that the only constant thing in life is change, so whatever will propel you forward, I’m all for that.”

It was also during the event when she revealed that she will be part of the upcoming series “Marry Me, Marry You.” The light family drama will see Dizon perform alongside Paulo Avelino, Vina Morales, Cherry Pie Picache, and fellow Kapuso-turned-Kapamilya actress Janine Gutierrez.

On Instagram, Gutierrez welcomed the newly-minted Kapamilya whom she worked with on her first lead role in GMA-7’s Villa Quintana, back in 2013. In her post, Gutierrez expressed her joy for getting paired up once again with Dizon on their first teleserye in their new network.

Dizon also revealed during the presser that the people to whom she shared the news of her moving first was none other than Iza Calzado, Diana Zubiri, and Karylle, her Sang’gre sisters in the hit 2005 fantasy series Encantadia

“When the offer came, biglang nagkaroon ng ECQ, and some productions had to stop taping,” Dizon said about. “I was telling Karylle, ‘Sis, pray for me, na sana matuloy talaga ‘yung project, because I’m excited for it.’”

“They’re very happy for me. Actually, before the media con started, magka-text kaming lahat at nakakausap ko rin si Karylle. Masaya sila para sa akin,”

Dizon’s transfer means all four of them have served as a Kapamilya: Karylle moved to ABS-CBN in 2008, and both Calzado and Zubiri inked their deals back in 2012.
