Angel Locsin and Neil Arce, who got engaged in 2019, got married in a civil wedding ceremony surrounded by their family and closest friends on July 26, 2021. The bride said that the perfect description for their special day would be “simple pero rock.”
But did you know that almost two years before they tied the the knot, Angel lost (but eventually found) her engagement ring?
On a flight to Italy
In a vlog posted by the newlyweds on their YouTube channel, they shared what happened when they realized that it was missing. “‘Nung pumunta kami sa Italy for ASAP, habang kausap ko ‘yung mga artista sa eroplano, napansin kong nawawala yung singsing ko,” Angel said.
Neil, who was in the same airplane, said that it was a moment he would never forget. He even made a spot-on impression of how Toni Gonzaga reacted when she found out that the ring got lost!
“Alam ko nanonood ako ng movie noon eh, tapos tinitignan-tignan ko na, parang may mga nagpa-panic na. Sabi [ni Angel], ‘Nawawala ‘yung singsing ko.'”
He also joked that the ring got lost because of Dimples Romana, since she was the one who gave him Angel’s ring size. “Malaki ‘yung binigay niyang ring size kaya nahuhulog-hulog,” Neil said.
They eventually found the ring again, but not before they had an almost identical copy of the ring made. And since they were not able to bring wedding bands during their civil wedding, Angel used this “fake” engagement ring, while Neil borrowed a ring from his son.
Although a lot of people panicked when the ring got lost, Neil said that what happened made him realize how strong his relationship with Angel is.
“‘Yung moment na ‘yun, ang takeaway ko doon, it showed how emotionally strong we are as a couple. Kung mas bata bata kami or hindi kami ganoong ka-emotionally strong, baka we’d take it as a sign.”
