It’s official! Cardi B is Playboy magazine’s first-ever creative director in residence!
The Grammy award-winning rapper announced the news on her Instagram page last week, calling her new job “a dream.”
“I’m startin this party right as the Founding Creative Director and a founding member of CENTERFOLD the new creator-led platform from Playboy coming soon!!” She wrote under a picture of herself wearing a Playboy bunny chain. “We’re going to have soooooo much fun.”
According to an official statement from the brand, Cardi B will “provide artistic direction across co-branded fashion and sexual wellness merchandise collections, digital editorial, experiential activations and more.” She will also serve as the founding creative director and founding member of the company’s new content platform, Centerfold. It is expected to be a platform similar to OnlyFans.
The “WAP” singer has described Centerfold as a place where creators can “express themselves freely and unfiltered.”
“They deserve to feel safe in their creativity and sexuality. And they deserve to own their future. This is what CENTERFOLD is all about,” she said. “For all those creators out there doing bold, revolutionary, truly culture-shifting things, come join me.”
Ben Kohn, Chief Executive Officer of PLBY Group, had only good things to say about the new venture. “Cardi B is a creative genius and we are absolutely thrilled and honored to bring her immense talent and creative vision to Playboy,” he stated. “Through her unapologetic commitment to free expression, her dedication to lifting up artistic voices and her celebration of sex and body positivity, Cardi is the embodiment of the Playboy brand. I can’t wait to see what Cardi and our team develop together with our merchandise design, development and distribution capabilities and our best-in-class content production.”
The partnership is not Cardi B’s first; she’s been known to dabble into entrepreneurship and collaborate with other brands in the past. She has released collections with Fashion Nova, created her own vodka-infused Whipshots, dropped a sneaker collab with Reebok, and even made her own doll.
