Channing Tatum can now add being an author to the list of his accomplishments. The actor and producer wrote his first children’s book, The One and Only Sparkella, for his 7-year-old daughter Everly. It tells a loving story between a father and daughter duo.
On Being a Single Parent
Channing was nervous about becoming a single dad but found that the best way to parent was to immerse into their world. “Go into her world and connect with her in any way,” he tells People. Even if that meant playing dress-up, painting nails, or wearing make-up, he was still game. He got to spend a lot of quality time during the pandemic, which made him understand how blessed he is.
The One and Only Sparkella
His daughter with ex-wife Jenna Dewan, Everly, was the inspiration for the children’s book. A lot of the things mentioned in the book are based on his experience with Evie, like calling her ‘Glitter Poop’. Raising a kid isn’t easy, and Channing hopes this book could help other first-time parents like him. “I wanted the book to be a little bit of a letter to them. Just play — you’ll be rewarded with love.”
Sequel in the Works
Sparkella is just the beginning as Channing reveals what to expect for the upcoming books. The first installment is about the uncertainty of how things will turn out. Then, the succeeding will be about what to do when things don’t happen the way you expect them to. So far he only has three books in mind, “The third book is when all is lost. What do you do when everything is completely gone wrong?”, he says in the exclusive interview.
The One and Only Sparkella was made available on May 4 and Channing is now ready to get back on set. He’ll be starring in a movie alongside Sandra Bullock, titled The Lost City of D.
