Freddie Prinze Jr. Teases Horror Movie Comeback

In the 90s and early 2000s, certain Hollywood heartthrobs always topped everyone’s crush lists. One of these actors is Freddie Prinze Jr.

Known for his movies Scooby-Doo and I Know What You Did Last Summer, the 45-year old actor, writer and producer has stepped back from being from and center in the Hollywood circuit in recent years. Why? He focused on fatherhood instead (insert collective aww…here).

Aside from being an actor, everyone knows that Freddie Prinze Jr. is the husband of actress Sarah Michelle Gellar. Defying all Hollywood expectations, the ridiculously beautiful couple has been happily married since 2002. They share two children — daughter Charlotte, 12, and son Rocky, 9.

If, like thousands of fans out there, you’ve been hoping Prinze makes his comeback soon, guess what? We might get to see the actor back in horror movies sooner rather than later.

Yes, you read that right. The actor told his fans via Twitter that 2022 might be the year Prinze makes another horror flick. “I’ve wanted to make another horror movie ever since IKWYDLS wrapped. Never found the right one, but I think this year it’s gonna happen,” he tweeted.

Will the new project be a reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer? Unfortunately, no. The actor confirmed to a fan on Twitter that this endeavor will be something new. For now, we’ll have to settle with Prinze’s teasing on social media and patiently/impatiently wait for details of his horror movie comeback.

While this project may mark his return to the horror genre, this won’t be his first acting endeavor since he stopped taking acting projects many years ago. In fact, as per People, the actor made his television comeback last year through Peacock’s Punky Brewster reboot.

Before this particular project, Prinze claimed that he was ‘done acting.’ However, Soleil Moon Frye and her team eventually won him over. “It was wild. I was kinda done acting and was a full-time father, and nothing got filmed in L.A. anymore, so I didn’t want to leave for six months a year,” he told The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“I said, ‘Look, I know you guys heard that I wasn’t really doing this anymore, but if you guys want me, I’ll give you 100%,’ and they said, ‘Yeah, we want you here,’ and it just worked,” Prinze Jr. told Clarkson.
Fortunately for the rest of us, it looks like Punky Brewster won’t be his last acting project. For now, we patiently await what’s next for Prinze and his acting career.
