Gal Gadot Finally Admits “Imagine” Video Was Done In Poor Taste

In the beginning of the pandemic, Gal Gadot, along with other famous faces, recorded themselves singing to John Lennon’s “Imagine.” The video went viral for all the wrong reasons, with a lot of people commenting it was tone deaf and downright insensitive. To this day, some people still make fun of the celebrities in the video for posting such cringe-y content.

Nearly two years later, the Israeli actress and model came clean, saying the video was done in poor taste. In an interview with InStyle Magazine, the “Wonder Woman” and “Red Notice star admitted that she and her peers had pure intentions, but it just didn’t hit quite right.

“The pandemic was in Europe and Israel before it came here [to the U.S.] in the same way. I was seeing where everything was headed. But [the video] was premature. It wasn’t the right timing, and it wasn’t the right thing. It was in poor taste,” Gal Gadot explained. “All pure intentions, but sometimes you don’t hit the bulls-eye, right? I felt like I wanted to take the air out of it, so that [event] was a delightful opportunity to do that.”

Basically, she thought the video would be uplifting for the rest of the world, but it just came out as a bit insensitive. However, she’s accepted the consequences with grace, and she doesn’t take offense when people bring it up.

This interview wasn’t the first time Gadot acknowledged the backlash of the “Imagine” video. As per CNN, in October 2021, Gadot showed that she wasn’t afraid to poke fun at the clip or herself when she received an honor at Elle’s Women in Hollywood awards and used the opportunity to jokingly perform a few of the lines from “Imagine” on stage.

Given how much backlash Gadot and the other celebrities have gotten for their participation in the video, it’s nice to know that Gadot isn’t afraid to make fun of her poor decisions. We’ve all been there at one point or another. Plus, people make bad decisions, right?

Aside from speaking out about the “Imagine” video, Gadot has a lot of exciting stuff on her plate. She’s slated to star in a Cleopatra biopic and she’s set to star in Kenneth Branagh’s version of “Death on the Nile.” Given how busy her schedule is, you probably shouldn’t expect her to pull another stunt like the “Imagine” video again. Lesson learned for Gal!
