Binibining Pilipinas International 2019 Patch Magtanong passed on the crown to her “Binibini” sister and friend, Hannah Arnold, on July 11, 2021.
Hannah first joined the national pageant in 2019 where she ended with a Top 15 finish. On her second try this year, her dream finally came true when she won the Miss International Philippines crown.
“Dreams really do come true! I will forever cherish this moment shared with the ever so kind, inspiring and loving [Patch Magtanong,]” she said.
However, Hannah believes that things would have turned out differently if beauty pageant veteran Vickie Rushton competed this year.
In an interview with Boy Abunda, the newly crowned Binibining Pilipinas International titleholder was asked who she thought were strong competitors this year and mentioned semi-finalists Honey Cartasano and Karen Laurrie Mendoza. She also mentioned Vickie, who was not able to compete anymore because of the age limit set by the pageant.
“Actually, before the pandemic, it was really Ate Vim, Vickie Rushton. She was Miss International,” Hannah said.
Last month, Vickie Rushton announced that her pageant journey has come to an end now that she’s 29 years old. Most pageants, including Binibining Pilipinas and Miss Universe Philippines, set the age limit for aspiring candidates to 28 years old.
“I am still not ready to let go of this dream but I know I have to and I know God has better plans. I never imagined this journey would end this way but maybe it’s time to dream a new dream,” she said.
