Jennifer Aniston reveals she has cut ties with a few people who refuse to get the COVID-19 vaccine or won’t disclose this information. She feels like it’s the responsible thing to do and is dismayed it had to come to this. Despite the surge of the virus, she received adverse reactions regarding the subject and took to Instagram explaining her decision.
Goodbye, Anti-Vaxxers
In an interview for InStyle’s September issue, Aniston shared her sentiments towards those who refuse to get vaccinated. “There’s still a large group of people who are anti-vaxxers or just don’t listen to the facts. It’s a shame,” she said. “I’ve just lost a few people in my weekly routine who have refused or did not disclose [where or not they had been vaccinated], and it was unfortunate. I feel it’s your moral and professional obligation to inform since we’re not all podded up and being tested every single day. It’s tricky because everyone is entitled to their own opinion — but a lot of opinions don’t feel based on anything except fear or propaganda,” she continued.
Why She Worries About the Unvaccinated
Aniston was saddened by the comments regarding the issue and addressed one of them. The comment wrote, “But if she’s vaccinated, she’s protected, correct? Why be worried about unvaxxed around her?” She replied in her Instagram stories asking people to be less selfish with the following caption.
“Because if you have the variant, you are still able to give it to me. I may get slightly sick, but I will not be admitted to a hospital and/or die. BUT I CAN give it to someone else who does not have the vaccine and whose health is compromised (or has a previous existing condition) — and therefore I would put their lives at risk. THAT is why I worry. We have to care about more than just ourselves here.”
The Friends actress has been encouraging others to wear masks throughout the pandemic and is firm about her stand on vaccination. In another story, she re-posted a cross-stitch quote that read, “What doesn’t kill you mutates and tries again.”
