Show business, that is.
After leaving the limelight to take a break for the better part of four years, actor John Lloyd Cruz marks his return by signing with Crown Artist Management Inc., Maja Salvador’s newly-formed talent management company. The actor’s return was revealed through a series post on Instagram on Saturday by the young talent agency.
Prior to his showbiz homecoming, the One More Chance star has been spotted on several candid occasions in Cebu, Batangas, and Palawan. He also appeared on camera during a live stream with Bea Alonzo, which turned out to be a film project by director Antoinette Jadaone, back in April.
The 37-year-old actor also made headlines last year after he was announced to be reuniting with Alonzo for a reunion film helmed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
Apart from his cameo appearances for commercial ads, Cruz has consistently stayed out of the spotlight since 2017 to take a “necessary pause” from the entertainment industry. It was November last year when JLC revealed that the reason for his four-year sabbatical was his estranged relationship with former partner Ellen Adarna. The two started dating back in 2017 and gave birth to their child, Elias Modesto, in 2018, before calling it quits in 2019.
Cruz joins the growing roster of artists contracted under Crown Artist Management Inc. Serving as the company’s president and CEO, Maja Salvador launched the talent agency after she left Star Magic, where she spent nearly two decades of her acting career.
While no plans have been slated yet for the returning Cruz, he hopes to realize the potential of a lot of young artists. He recently revealed in an interview with Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairperson Rachel Arenas that, moving forward, he has “learned [a lot of] lessons” and is excited to “have the chance to collaborate with young artists” under his new agency.
