Calling all aspiring Miss Universe Philippines 2021 contestants: you can still send in your applications until July 15, 2021!
On June 24, The Miss Universe Philippines Organization announced that the application deadline has been extended in consideration of the applicants who may need more time.
“We heard you, Universe! We realize that some applicants may need more time to prepare their applications and in securing documents, so we’re extending the application deadline for Miss Universe Philippines 2021 to July 15, 2021!”
The Miss Universe Philippines organization decided to remove the minimum height requirement for applicants this year, which received praise from many people, including Miss Universe Australia 2020 Maria Thattil.
“Well done [Miss Universe Philippines] for challenging exclusive beauty standards. The number of [centimeters] you stand tall doesn’t dictate your ability to be a leader and change maker,” she said.
Aside from this, the MUP organization also updated the age requirement for aspiring contestants. Their previous post states that only those who are at least 18 years old and below 28 years of age by the time of the national pageant are eligible to apply. Now, they are also open to those who are turning 28 years old this year.
“Updated Age Requirement for 2021: Must be at least 18 years of age up to 28 years of age as of December 31, 2021.”
“Due to the delays caused by the pandemic, the Miss Universe Philippines Organization has decided to give special consideration to the age requirement. We will be accepting applicants who turned 28 years old this year and will remain 28 years old for the rest of the year 2021,” they said.
