Comedian and TV personality Nick Cannon tearfully revealed on Tuesday that his youngest child, five-month-old Zen, died Sunday after battling brain cancer.

Cannon, 41, broke the heartbreaking news to the live audience of “The Nick Cannon Show.” He dedicated the episode to his “beautiful son Zen,” whom he shared with model Alyssa Scott.

“Today is a special one y’all for many reasons but it’s not gonna be an easy one. I haven’t even shared this with anybody, not even the crew,” Cannon began. “I had a very tough weekend.”

“Over the weekend I lost my youngest son to a condition called hydrocephalus that was pretty much a malignant, invasive midline brain tumor, brain cancer,” Cannon continued. “It’s tough.”

The host also shared that they brought Zen to the doctor when he was two months old after noticing that the baby was having breathing issues, and that his head seemed bigger than usual.

“He had this real interesting breathing and by the time he was two months old I noticed…he had this nice sized head, I called it a Cannon head. We didn’t think anything of it, he had a normal Cannon head. But I wanted to take him to the doctor to get the breathing and the sinus thing checked out,” he said. “We thought it would be a routine process.”

“Immediately we had to have surgery,” Cannon said.

After subsequent surgeries and several medical procedures, Cannon said that Zen’s condition took a turn for the worse around Thanksgiving and the baby’s tumor “began to grow a lot faster.” The actor added that his son succumbed to his illness on Sunday, but still manage to reflect on the time they spent while watching the sunrise and the sunset together that day.

“This weekend I made a valid effort to spend the most quality time I could spend with Zen,” Cannon said. “Holding my son for the last time, it was a beautiful setting.”

“Not only did we see the sunrise we got to see the sunset, too” he added.

Zen is the youngest of Cannon’s seven children. Scott gave birth to Zen over a week after Cannon welcomed his twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir with DJ Abby De La Rosa last June.

Cannon also welcomed his daughter Powerful Queen last December, his second child with model Brittany Bell after their four-year-old son Golden. Cannon’s oldest children are his 10-year old twins Moroccan and Monroe, whom he shares with Mariah Carey.
