‘Not My Finest Hour’: Justin Bieber Reflects on His 2014 Arrest

Justin Bieber took to Instagram this week to post a photo of his arrest in Miami, Florida seven years ago. At the time, Bieber was only 19 years old and was charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest, and driving with a suspended license.

The teen was caught drag racing in his yellow Lamborghini and was arrested shortly after, eventually getting bailed out and pleading guilty.  He ended up donating $50,000 (or roughly P2.4M) to a children’s charity and taking anger management classes. “I was hurting, unhappy, confused, angry, mislead, misunderstood and angry at God…” the singer, now 26, said in his post.

He had been known to have a wild streak in his later teen years, as he was also charged in a number of altercations, and even vandalism that same year for egging his neighbor’s house. Though, he credits his relationship with God as the reason why he was able to move on and up from that turbulent time in his life. “From then ;til now I do realize something… God was as close to me then as he is right now.”

He also has a message for those who are going through similar tough times: “Don’t allow shame to ruin your ‘today’ let the forgiveness of Jesus take over and watch your life blossom into all that God has designed you to be.”

The post garnered 7 million likes, with fans and famous peers alike expressing their support in the comments. Actor Taylor Lautner commented praying hands emojis while model Bella Hadid left a simple “Yes!” with a heart.

Needless to say, Bieber has definitely grown past his reckless behavior with the support of his family and friends.
