Jung HoYeon, star of the wildly successful South Korean series “Squid Game,” recently took to Instagram to post several fashionable fits that she wore during her overseas schedule. But fans were more concerned about her health than her couture, proposing to the model-turned-actress to “please eat.”

In one particular photo, the star wore a long black dress and displayed her slender arms and figure. As soon as she uploaded her snaps, fans left comments left and right about how Jung HoYeon has drastically lost weight.

Instead of replying to the deluge of comments online, HoYeon spoke to Channel News Asia’s CNA Lifestyle to share that she “didn’t have time to eat” while carrying out her commitments in the United States and that the schedule was simply too overwhelming.

“The clothes that fit me when I first went to the United States are now baggy. In only ten days after the premiere of Squid Game, I lost 4kg but I’ve lost even more. Once I got to the United States, I had a busy schedule. So many things happened at once,” said HoYeon, who also revealed that her schedule is packed until February 2022.

She also cited the sudden success of “Squid Game” as the reason behind her drastic weight loss. Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, the new global ambassador of Louis Vuitton shared how the pace of things following the mega-hit series was “hard to follow.”

“I couldn’t follow the speed of the growth of the ‘Squid Game’ success because since COVID, I think everything is faster and even online, it happens just so quick,” said HoYeon. “It was hard to follow. I lost 6 pounds in a week when it became successful. I couldn’t eat – it wasn’t stress, I just didn’t know this feeling. ‘What’s going on out there, who am I?’ I was kind of losing myself.

Nonetheless, she stepped back to say that she has slowly settled to the position she’s found herself: “Now, I feel very comfortable with the Squid Game team, so I can slowly get used to this success with people.”

Meanwhile, just as comments expressing concern over HoYeon’s weight loss surfaced, so did defensive fans who shielded the star from “body-shaming” remarks.

Shutting down these comments, one fan wrote: “Stop body shaming her and commenting on her body. Some people are saying, ‘good job for being so skinny!’ Some are saying, ‘eat something’ – worry about yourself. She eats for crying out loud. Stop trippin. Everybody is not cut from the same mold. Let her do her.”

“You are beautiful as you are, you don’t need to do anything, or change something in yourself to please society,” another fan wrote.
