Sylvia Sanchez will be taking a break from acting now that the inspirational teleserye Huwag Kang Mangamba is coming to an end.
“Okay na. Naka-off na si Barang sa akin. Magpapahinga ako,” she said during The Healing Finale Media Conference. “Talagang sobrang pahinga ngayon. Grateful ako sa role na Barang, pero nakakapagod siya, sobra.”
The veteran actress said that portraying “Barang” on the show, which will end on November 5, 2021, drained her both emotionally and physically. “Sa susunod na teleserye na i-o-offer sa akin, parang feeling ko, wala na akong mabibigay pa na bago, kasi drained ako dito [kay] Barang, napagod ako nang sobra.”
She also shared that she plans to rest for around six months to twelve months to prepare herself for future projects. “Relax na muna ako. Maglalagi muna ako sa probinsya. Iyon ang nasa utak ko ngayon. Rest muna. Para pagbalik ko, may bago kayong makita, at hindi talo ‘yung producer na mag-aalok sa akin ng bagong role.”
Sylvia recently won the “Best Supporting Actress” award from the Asian Academy for Creative Arts for her performance as “Barang” on “Huwag Kang Mangamba.”
According to an ABS-CBN report, “The child-like Barang’s mental disability affects her speech and communication skills, but has not prevented her from forming close friendships and regaining familial ties, after being revealed to be the long-lost grandmother of Mira (Andrea Brillantes) and Joy (Francine Diaz).”
Andrea, Francine, Kyle Echarri, and Seth Fedelin, collectively known as “The Gold Squad” star in the show. Meanwhile, Sylvia, Eula Valdez, Nonie Buencamino, Mylene Dizon, and Diether Ocampo play supporting characters.
