Since 2014, Jelena Noura Hadid, famously known as Gigi Hadid, has been on the internet’s radar not only for being a rich and drop-dead gorgeous model but being an Internet-famous celebrity in her own right with over 63 million followers on Instagram and ten million followers on Twitter. From being the daughter of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reality TV star Yolanda Hadid, she has become a star of her own.
The 25-year-old has walked for the biggest fashion brands in the world such as Chanel, Versace, and Balmain. She’s graced countless television shows, including US Celebrity Masterchef and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She even released capsule collections in partnership with Tommy Hilfiger. In the midst of the pandemic, Hadid shocked the world when she announced that she and her on-and-off boyfriend/singer Zayn Malik were pregnant.
Hadid gave birth to a baby girl named Khai, which is Arabic for “the chosen one” in September, and hasn’t revealed the face of her beautiful baby yet. However, she did sit down with Vogue Magazine to talk about her ongoing journey through motherhood.
“I know that I’m not as small as I was before, but I also am a very realistic thinker. I straight up was like, ‘Yeah, I’ll shoot a Vogue cover, but I’m obviously not going to be a size 0,’ nor do I, at this point, feel like I need to be back to that,” she explained. “I also think it’s a blessing of this time in fashion that anyone who says that I have to be that can suck it.”
Hadid was one of the most in-demand models pre-pandemic, and while she’s known for her professionalism and sweetness (she is known to give handwritten thank you notes), she doesn’t feel the pressure to go back to her old busy schedule.
“I’m veering toward things that feel more stable than being in a different country every week,” she said. Totally unrelatable, yes, but isn’t nice to know the new momma knows her priorities, though?
