Some sad news came out for Super Junior fans on August 3. An announcement on the band’s Twitter said that member Choi Siwon tested positive for COVID.
South Korea requires travelers to get a PCR test a day after arrival. Siwon tested positive after the band’s return from holding Super Show 9 in Bangkok.
Pulp confirms absence of Choi Siwon
Super Junior is set to hold SS9 in Manila this Saturday, August 6. But with Siwon’s COVID test results, fans waited for news about the show.
A few hours after Super Junior tweeted the news, Pulp followed up with an announcement on Siwon’s status. As fans expected, he would not take part in the show.
The good news is that no other member has tested positive for COVID. And the concert will go on according to schedule.
The show goes on for Super Junior
It wasn’t long ago that Stray Kids had to postpone concert dates because of COVID. With three members going down with the virus, the group had no choice but to cancel some shows.
As a second-generation K-pop group, Super Junior has experience on its side. The group is no stranger to having members going in and out of its lineup. Military enlistments and health concerns aside, the show goes on for Super Junior.
While Choi Siwon’s absence is heartbreaking for his fans, his health is the priority.
