Sparkle’s newest teen charmers and young stars are finally here!
Sparkle GMA Artist Center has lived up to its name and reputation time and again as it recently launched a new batch of promising young talents—The Sparkle Teens.
After the successful introduction and admirable trajectory of the previous Sparkle talents, 19 teens have followed as the latest roster of GMA’s upcoming faces. The group is composed of former child actors and newcomers—each of them holding a promise of artistic caliber and dedication to their craft.
As the spotlight sheds high and bright, many people already anticipate them dominating the industry one way or another. So, here they are:
This 14-year old Bulakenya stands as the “Biritera” of the group—which means belting power ballads or a recording album could likely be just some of the opportunities along her career route. Her life is grounded mostly on music, with a solid background as one of the main casts of the London West End Production, “The Sound of Music.” According to her, she’s been partly motivated by her musical experiences, giving her enough “determination to pursue a career in acting.”
Her decision to enter showbiz is not only fuelled by music, it was also partially influenced by television. She shares, “Mahilig po talaga akong manood ng mga movies, mahilig po akong gumaya ng mga actresses na nakikita ko sa TV, and dun po nagsimula yung motivation ko to be an actor.”
All things get light in the presence of this 17-year-old boy from Manila. He smiles just as brightly and his demeanor exudes positivity, a seemingly fitting trait as the “Happy Pill” of the Sparkle Teens.
Bryce shares that he’s been in the industry at a young age, and he finds enjoyment in the line of work. He shares, “Siguro before pa, not siguro when I started, but I learned to love it po kasi through the years. And I feel when I act po kasi, parang I feel this certain happiness while I’m on the set, I’m in the workshop.”
16-year-old Waynona Collings expresses her love for anything stylish and fad, making her rightful of the title “Dazzling Fashionista.” This beauty from Quezon City has her heart into music, dance, and acting—a well-balanced talent for a meek and introverted soul like her.
Collings had her acting epiphany out of a sudden. She says, “When I was a kid, I used to watch shows and iniisip ko, ‘Paano kaya nila nagagawa yun?’ And na-amaze ako kasi kaya nilang mag-portray ng iba’t-ibang characters. Nung nag-audition po ako at nag-start yung workshop, mas lumalim pa yung passion ko sa acting.”
Beautiful and talented—these are some of the words that best describe the 13-year-old “Stunning Diva” from Cavite. She is also a microphone girl, with a lot of singing experiences she holds dearly up under her sleeves. For one, she was hailed as the Global Child Prodigy in 2022 and a world champion and multi-medalist in solo vocal categories during the 2018 World Championship of Performing Arts.
She proudly shares that while she’s been singing for quite some time, acting is “a recently developed talent” for her. With Sparkle’s guidance, Mischa realizes that more than a singer, she can be an artist too.
Dubbed the Energizer of the group, nothing is ever too timid or dull for 14-year-old Lee Victor. Coming from a Welsh descent, Lee Victor jumpstarted his exposure through modeling with longtime hopes of having his own songs be sung at his own concerts.
Just like some of the Sparkle Teens, his early television influences can be traced strongly back when he was still a kid.
A British boy in looks, but surely has his heart rooted in the Philippines. This is Josh Ford, an 18-year old heartthrob that will surely tickle your teen spirit with his charismatic, friendly, and positive personality.
According to him, his dream of becoming an established actor dawned when he saw himself on television for the first time. He thought to himself, “Wow, parang ang sarap po sa feeling na you accomplished something.” All the more, a reminiscent Josh Ford is also quick to express his happiness and gratitude as part of the Sparkle Teens.
If you can dance, you can also sing, or at least that’s how Selina Griffin presents herself as a multi-talented teen. As the “Ballerina and Classical Singer” of the group, the 14-year-old girl takes so much pride in all things performative– even teaching ballet at a tender age of 11.
What comes as surprising is her candid admission of all the struggles she faced upon entering showbiz. Griffin states, “Honestly, it was, of course, a struggle kasi siyempre the process is definitely not easy. I did choose a difficult path, especially ballet because it requires a lot of training, so it definitely took me a lot of time.”
Most people may know the 16-year-old Ashley Sarmiento as a meek child actress in ABS-CBN’s noontime show, “FlordeLiza.” However, she has more grit than that since she can also sing and dance. With just a laptop and a dream– she started acting (and reporting) alone when she was young until recently, she’s been launched as the newest face of Sparkle Teens.
Sarmiento also shares that commercial appearances and modeling have been her introductory steps going into showbiz. Years later, she landed multiple roles, including GMA’s “Wish Ko Lang,” “Tadhana,” and “Magpakailanman.”
About rejection issues, Ashley makes it a point to acknowledge that such things can happen in the industry. She affirms herself, “As long as ginawa niyo yung best niyo, you should be proud of yourself.”
An 18-year-old Aidan Veneracion appeals to masses with his contagious smiles and bubbly demeanor; almost K-pop if you think about it, and so, he stands as the “Oppa-mazing Dancer” of Sparkle Teens. He is a big believer in progress, in which he states that however you wish to continue, you have to keep moving forward.
The thought of entering showbiz dawned on Veneracion when he’s young.
Being away from his parents has also taught Veneracion all the taxing works of getting into showbiz, especially the daunting commutes and going alone during callbacks. Nonetheless, he attested that he learned so much about the ins and outs of the industry, holding onto lessons as his stronghold.
Another shy but sharp personality comes in the name of Aya Domingo. Being the youngest in the group, she proves that 13 is just as good or even better than all the ages in the Sparkle Teens. Well, it is true for someone who can dance, sing, and act—a total package that can move mountains if given the opportunity.
One might think of Aya Domingo as a gentle kid, but take this as a fair warning of what she can do as a martial artist. This Caviteña is a newcomer. She was discovered through their rent-a-car business, and from there she kicked her way to stardom as the “Bunsong Palaban.”
15-year-old Antonio Vinzon is the “Heartthrob” of the team and this title is due to many good reasons. For one, he plays multiple sports and will surely “give you the last bite of food” out of love. Son of the more famous Roi Vinzon, Antonio was then put under the influence of his dad in terms of acting.
He shares, “Nung dati, tinuruan ako ng dad ko mag-artist and mag-action film din. And natutunan ko na walang imposible.”
Going back to how he was discovered, he mentioned that it was Cornerstone who took first interest in him. With questions about the possibility of being an artist, Antonio then pushed through. Now, he stands as one of the promising young stars that will surely leave a mark.
Marco Masa brands himself as the “Adventurous Actor” of Sparkle Teens. Currently 15 years old, Masa takes a good amount of pride in all his acting accomplishments, such as ABS-CBN’s “Nathaniel” in 2015 and”Bagani” in 2018. His television exposure is owed to a talent scout who came to their computer shop. The ensuing years saw a lot of commercials right before Marco immersed himself in showbiz in 2013.
According to him, struggles are completely unavoidable. “Talaga pong mahirap pero ako po kasi dahil alam ko naman po sa sarili ko na gusto ko po yung ginagawa ko, bakit ko po ititigil? So, nagpatuloy lang po ako.”
This 16-year-old “Explorer” from Cavite is tall, crazy, and a Swiftie! James Graham has all things Taylor-Swift checked and even ice skates and swims in his free time. He grew up in Angeles, Pampanga before finding the path to showbiz.
He dreams of working with Kapuso’s big names, including Marian Rivera, Ken Chan, and Dingdong Dantes. It’s as if we have a romantic in the house as he believes that love is “giving someone the power to destroy you but trusting them not to.”
Another Pampanga-raised beauty has joined the group, and she is no other than Liana. The 16-year-old fresh face views herself as “kikay”—which explains her love of makeup. Her acting career includes a noteworthy appearance in one “Wish Ko Lang” episode, titled “Debutante.”
She wishes to scale up her acting career by working with Kapuso’s Barbie Forteza. She shares, “Kasi po, napanood ko siya sa “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” and talagang na-amaze po ako sa acting niya kasi to the point na kaya niyang maging funny, at the same time, maging serious.”
Towering Beauty is what they call Keisha Serna. That’s because she stands 5’8—the tallest in the Sparkle Teens. She was discovered in TikTok, and she comes from a multi-cultural descent (British, Arab, Filipino). Now 15, Keisha has an arsenal of talents, including modeling, singing, and dancing.
If any, Serna directly points to Kapuso’s very own Marian Rivera as one of the artists she looks up mostly to. According to her, “Nai-inspire po ako sa pag-acting niya. Lalo na po sa teleserye niya po dati na “Marimar” na pinanood po sa akin ng mama ko and amazed na amazed po ako sa pagsayaw niya.”
15-year-old Naomi Park or Yumi is a Batanguena who jives to K-pop songs during free time, hence she is called the “K-pop Girl” of Sparkle Teens. Charming, cute, and kind—these are just some of the attributes that make Park a standout.
More so, Park is heavily immersed in modeling, with a lot of workshops done to get the proper turns and poses. When asked the names of the actors she wants to work with, she only has one name in mind: Glaiza De Castro.
As she puts it, “Ang galing niya po umarte and since “Encantadia” days po, Idol ko po siya.” Surely, for whatever it’s worth, Naomi Park will do good in scenes with Pirena!
Hailed from Cagayan De Oro, the “Pinakamakulit” in the group also takes pride in being discovered on TikTok. Humor is at Charlie’s core as she views love as a “bubblegum makapilit maka buang.” But more than being “makulit,” she dreams of taking on more serious roles.
For one, Charlie wants to establish her versatility by mastering multiple crafts at once. According to her, “My biggest dream in my career po is to become a versatile actor. Gusto ko po na kahit saan po ako mapunta, kaya ko pong lahat. And, like, I can go through the challenges po na kailangan ko i-go through.”
As that is the case, she wants to mirror her career from Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo. According to her, “She’s a beauty and brains. She’s a beauty queen, a host, and an actress po, and I admire her a lot.”
Watch out for another heartthrob of Sparkle Teens as John Clifford might steal girls’ and guys’ hearts with his smile alone. The 16-year-old Cebuano dubbed as the “Adventurous Performer” started his music inclination at a young age of six.
Ten years later, he has seen himself joining the Sparkle’s batch with a dream of landing a leading role in teleseryes. More so, he raises his willingness to work in action, romance, and horror films. As for the actor, he wants his career to be likened to GMA’s very own Miguel Tanfelix.
Zyren Dela Cruz
The Filipino blood is strong with Zyren Dela Cruz who is tall, dark, and handsome as he claimed to be. This 15-year-old dances extremely well as he is a former member of Kiddowockeez Dance Crew. He also has a reputable acting experience as the young Lolong in GMA’s 2022 hit series “Lolong.”
He is into the crafty and sporty side of things, with lettering and badminton as some of his notable hobbies.
When asked about the preparations and guidance that Sparkle GMA Artists Center made before their official launch, Zyren has this to say: “Nag-take po kami ng mga rehearsals, workshops, training.”
Sparkle Teens: The Dream
Before the official launch of Sparkle Teens, GMA Network’s talent management had already launched three groups of celebrities in 2022. As the management remains a powerhouse of talents, the new set of faces is expected to reach optimum starpower in hopes of continuing quality entertainment in the future.
