Sugarfree fans reunited for a night to celebrate the staple album.
Ebe Dancel performed Sugarfree‘s greatest hits at 123 Block, Mandala Park, Mandaluyong on January 28. The gig celebrated the 20th anniversary of their album “Sa Wakas.” It was also a reunion for Dancel and former Sugarfree drummer Mitch Singson.
The album “Sa Wakas” was released in 2003. It includes Sugarfree’s staple tracks namely “Burnout”, “Mariposa”, and “Telepono.” Fun fact is that it even had a theatrical play named after the record.

The celebration was fronted by premiere artists including Itchyworms, Cheats, Autotelic, Brass Pas Pas Pas Pas, and Johnnoy Danao. Former Sugarfree drummer joined Dancel in some of the performances.
Dancel serenaded the concertgoers with song from their albums “Dramachine,” “Tala-Arawan,” “Mornings And Airports,” and of course, “Sa Wakas.”
The 20th anniversary concert had a UP Fair theme, complete with carnival games and fun booths for the concertgoers.
It was a night of nostalgia for Sugarfree fans, seeing Dancel perform their songs after he parted ways with the band in 2011. He then embarked in a solo career soon after departure.
Sa Wakas Highlights
The set started with the song “Prom” and “Kung Ayaw Mo Na Sa Akin.” “Kwentuhan”, “Wag Ka Nang Umiyak,” and Kwarto then followed.
Fans sang along to Sugarfree classics including “Unang Araw,” “Telepono,” “Mariposa,” “Cuida,” and “Insomya.”
Dancel played “Dear Kuya,” “Hari Ng Sablay,” “Makita Kang Muli,” “Hangover,” and “Tulog Na” for the last stretch of the event.
As soon as the chorus of “Bawat Daan” played, someone from the audience also proposed to their partner. It was later acknowledged by Dancel, inviting the couple on stage.
Dancel ended the night with Sugarfree’s biggest hit titled “Burnout.” Dancel thanked everyone who joined the event. He later bowed down with his band mates.
