The three-hour concert in Glendale had the Swifties enjoying a total of 44 songs from Taylor Swift
Pop superstar Taylor Swift is back to touring. The award-winning performer kicked off her “Eras Tour” by having a long setlist and dropping four new songs.
Swift’s first stop for her 52-date “Eras Tour” was at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on last March 17, 2023. It was where the Super Bowl was played a month ago.
When Swift announced the tour in November, she called it “a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!).” Swift has not had a tour since her “Reputation” shows in 2018.
The “Eras Tour,” which was a three-hour show, ran through hits from every era of the Grammy-winner’s 17-year career.
The four new songs include “Eyes Open (Taylor’s Version)” and “Safe & Sound (Taylor’s Version),” featuring The Civil Wars singers Joy Williams and John Paul White joining the pop star on the latter track. The third re-recording is “If This Was A Movie (Taylor’s Version)” from the pop star’s 2010 album, “Speak Now.” The fourth and final song is the previously-unreleased “All Of The Girls You Loved Before,” which was recorded for her 2019 album, “Lover.”
Eras Tour with Taylor Swift
Having not toured for her previous three albums, Swift considers this concert series as a catchup with her beloved fans called the Swifties.
Swift started her concert with her “Lover” era by opening with “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince,” a track off the 2019 album. She then performed “Cruel Summer” for the very first time in a concert.
She then followed it with a performance of “Willow” and “Champagne Problems” from her pandemic-era album “Evermore.” Audiences were brought back to the “Reputation” era when Swift performed popular hits such as “Delicate” and “Don’t Blame Me.”
Swift’s “Red” era had more catchy tunes like “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and “I Knew You Were Trouble.” Swift also performed the ten-minute version of “All Too Well.”
She next performed songs from her 2020 album “Folklore” for the first time in a live concert. The album was brought to life when she sang “Invisible String,” “Cardigan” and “Betty,” among others. She later played an acoustic rendition of “Mirrorball.”
Apart from releasing new songs, Swift also promised her audience that she’ll play a different acoustic song at every show throughout the tour.
In true “1989” fashion, the concert transformed into a big dance party, as it included some of Swift’s most popular hits like “Blank Space,” “Shake it Off” and “Wildest Dreams.”
Swift sang all the nostalgia away through her “Fearless” era with “You Belong with Me” and “Love Story.” She also sang “Tim McGraw” at the piano, a song from her earliest era in 2006.
As the concert came to its final and current era, Swift played various songs from her record-breaking 2022 album “Midnights,” including “Anti-Hero,” “Lavender Haze,” “Mastermind” and “Bejeweled,” and closed out the show with the high energy hit “Karma.”
