The Friends Reunion has Wrapped Filming: Here’s What We Know So Far

Looks like the cast and crew of Friends has finished filming the reunion that people have been clamoring for for more than a decade! After last year’s indefinite delay of what has been tagged as “The One Where They Get Back Together” because of the pandemic, they finally got to film the reunion last week.

The official Friends Instagram posted a photo from the set with the caption, “That’s a wrap! Could we BE anymore excited!?”

Friends is more than a show; it’s a cultural phenomenon with staying power. It doesn’t matter that it’s been over since 2004, people still can’t stop rewatching and talking about this sitcom classic. So, it’s not surprising that fans are extremely excited about this reunion.

Here’s what we know so far:

All six stars will be part of it

That’s right, we won’t be missing anyone this time around! The entire main cast – Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer – will be back for the reunion. This will actually be the first time that all six of the main gang will be together for a reunion since Perry wasn’t around the one they had in 2016 due to prior commitments.

It’s going to premiere on HBO Max

The reunion was put together and will be streamed by HBO Max. In fact, before the pandemic caused production to halt, the reunion was actually supposed to be one of the specials to be released for the streaming platform’s launch.

It won’t be a new episode

Don’t expect the reunion to be an actual scripted episode with scenes exploring where the six characters are now. The cast isn’t coming back to reprise their beloved roles. Instead, the reunion will be an unscripted special where the actors and co-creators, David Crane and Marta Kauffman, will be sitting down to look back on Friends, from the story itself to the massive impact the show had. The special will also reportedly include behind-the-scenes footage and a chance to revisit iconic props and set pieces.

There’s no official release date yet

Although the fact that they’re done filming means we’re getting a lot closer to seeing the gang all back together again, HBO Max still hasn’t announced an official release date for the special.
