It seems technology has finally caught up to Neil Gaiman’s imagination.


The Sandman is another highly-anticipated series coming to Netflix. It’s an adaptation of the popular comic by Neil Gaiman.

Gaiman is a known author, comic book creator, screenwriter, and voice actor. He specializes in fantasy, horror, and science fiction, among other genres. Gaiman’s best known for American Gods, Coraline, Stardust, and The Graveyard Book.

With the adaptation of The Sandman dropping next month, you know we had to update you guys with the latest deets!

The Netflix series revolves around the Sandman, A.K.A. Dream (Tom Sturridge). He’s a powerful cosmic being who controls all our dreams. He’s been captured and held prisoner for over a century. Now, he must travel to different worlds and timelines to fix the chaos his absence caused.

The Sandman is a rich, character-driven blend of dark fantasy and myth woven together. The original series ran for 75 issues from January 1989 to March 1996. In 2020, reprints came out under DC’s Black Label imprint.

The series is from Warner Bros. Television. It stars Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, David Thewlis, Donna Preston, and Gwendoline Christie. Asim Chaudhry, Jenna Coleman, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and Joely Richardson also star. So do John Cameron Mitchell, Mason Alexander Park, Niamh Walsh, and Patton Oswalt. Razane Jammal, Sandra James-Young, and Sanjeev Bhaskar nabbed roles on the show too. Finally, Stephen Fry, Vanesu Samunyai, and Vivienne Acheampong round out the cast.

During their panel at Geeked Week, Neil Gaiman and the cast unveiled the official teaser. They also revealed that science fiction icon Mark Hamill will have a special role in the show. The Star Wars alum signed on to voice the beloved character Merv Pumpkinhead.
