Weekly Showbiz Round-Up: Vice Ganda vs Kim Atienza, ALLTV Programs Take A Break, Moira dela Torre’s Trending Song in Concert, McLisse Reconciliation

Vice Ganda, Kim Atienza, Karylle, and It’s Showtime make headlines this week!

Vice Ganda, Kim Atienza, Karylle, and Moira dela Torre are some of the trending personalities in showbiz this week as they made headlines for their respective issues.

The Manny Villar-owned network ALLTV, as well as its banner star Willie Revillame, also made headlines with the recent developments in the network.

McCoy de Leon and Elisse Joson made McLisse fans happy once again for some good news about their relationship.

Here’s a recap of some of the trending news you may have missed on the first week of February 2023.

“It’s Showtime” scuffle: Vice Ganda vs Kim Atienza after incident with Karylle

ABS-CBN’s noontime show “It’s Showtime” trended on social media this week for incidents involving one of its main hosts, Vice Ganda.

First, he was called out by netizens and tagged him to be “disrespecting” his co-host, Karylle, while doing their spiels and punchlines in one of the show’s segments. Karylle mentioned Vhong Navarro’s song number only for Vice to reply “O, okay na yan, Karylle.”

This did not sit well with netizens, even calling out “It’s Showtime” for playing favorites and not acknowledging Karylle as main host.

Vice Ganda acknowledged what he did and the next day. Before the live show, he apologized to Karylle. He writes on Twitter, “Story time! Magkakasama kami ni K (Karylle) at Tyang [Amy Perez] and Anne [Curtis] sa dressing room. Di daw sya naoffend when i asked her. But i still apologized. So to simplify WE ARE OK.”

Meanwhile, former “It’s Showtime” host Kim Atienza also got involved in this news.

It was after he liked tweets that described Vice Ganda as “main star diva,” “laitera,” and “bully.”

Vice Ganda seemed to have seen these as he made an inside joke during the February 3 live show of “It’s Showtime.”

He tells Karylle: “Sikat na sikat tayo ngayon, yes! Trending tayo sa Twitter, girl! Mamaya magvi-video kami ni Karylle, magsasabunutan kami.”

Karylle joined in what seemed to be a harmless joke and replies, “Mag-stretching muna ako, abangan mo.”

Vice Ganda then says about the situation: “Gusto nila yon. Yun ang bet nila, yung magkaaway tayo kunyari. Tapos maraming magla-like-like para involved sila. Yes, trending din siya. Nakuha niya yung gusto niya. Ikaw talaga, Kuya.”

Atienza is known for his moniker “Kuya Kim.”

ALLTV programs temporarily go off the air, Willie Revillame laments on TV

On February 3, PEP.ph released a scoop about the original programs of ALLTV taking a break, four months after the network was first launched.

ALLTV is the Manny Villar-owned TV network that took over the frequencies of ABS-CBN after its franchise renewal was junked by Congress in 2020.

Although the shows that will take a break have not been specified, among the originals of ALLTV are Willie Revillame’s “Wowowin,” Toni Gonzaga’s “Toni,” and the morning show “M.O.M.S: Moms On A Mission” hosted by Ruffa Gutierrez, Ciara Sotto, and Mariel Rodriguez.

Some netizens couldn’t help but express their opinion on ALLTV’s decision, coming from what happened at ABS-CBN’s franchise.

On February 4, Revillame, who also holds a position in ALLTV, lamented the reaction of netizens who seemed to be happy about ALLTV shows taking a break. He first mentioned about the help his show has been doing to Filipinos before opening up about his disappointment.

Revillame also asked for understanding, knowing that ALLTV is just starting and establishing itself as a TV network. “You have to understand, nagsisimula pa lang po ang ALLTV. Nagsisimula pa lang kami, sanggol pa lang ito. Talagang wala pang commercial na papasok dito kasi wala pa kaming reach. Wala pa kaming signal. Sinisimulan pa lang, e.”

He also asked to set aside politics from what is happening with the TV network “Ipagdasal niyo kami. Ipagdasal niyo kami na maging successful ito para maraming mga istasyon na maraming magawa. Marami kayong marinig na kabutihan. Set aside ninyo yung pulitika. Marami pa kayong dapat malaman sa katotohanan. It’s about the frequency, kung alam niyo lang yung totoo. Ayoko lang ho magsalita na pangungunahan ko sila.

After his statement, his old interview with former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque resurfaced on social media.

During Roque’s “Wowowin” guesting aired in 2020, the former senator quipped about Revillame and ABS-CBN losing its franchise.

He tells Revillame in the interview, “Sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon, ikaw lang ang napapanood sa buong bansa. Alam mo, duda ko, kaya ‘yung isa nawalan ng prangkisa, ikaw may kagagawan niyan e. O, aminin, aminin.”

Revillame initially laughed at the joke and then pointed out that it was in ABS-CBN where he started his career and decided not to talk about it in the segment.

Some netizens castigated the TV host, particularly about his statement on setting aside politics.

Is Moira dela Torre’s hugot song about ex-husband Jason Hernandez?

Singer Moira dela Torre and her concert became a trending topic on social media over the weekend because of a new hugot song that seemed to allude her estranged husband, Jason Hernandez.

The song was about wasting five years of your life for someone who keeps on doing the same mistake.

Part of the song’s lyrics goes: “Wasted five years of my life / Were they worth all of your lies, oh why/ You said you made a mistake / But there’s no one else to blame / ’Cause you didn’t do it just ONE TIME OR TWO TIMES OR THREE TIMES OR FIVE TIMES / I forget BYE BYE”

The snippet of the song was uploaded on TikTok. Netizens were quick to assume that dela Torre was alluding to her ex-husband.

The two announced their break-up through a joint statement in May 2022, where Hernandez admitted that he had been “unfaithful” to dela Torre.

McCoy de Leon, Elisse Joson reconcile

McCoy de Leon confirmed that he and partner Elisse Joson have already made amends.

In January 2023, the McLisse tandem made headlines after de Leon admitted that they have broken up and even apologized for what happened to them. Rumor had it that a third party was involved, which De Leon denied. Meanwhile, Joson said that “online miscommunication” caused the breakup.

After a few weeks, netizens spotted de Leon and Joson several times spending time together with their daughter, Felize.

But in de Leon’s February 5 interview with TV5 reporter MJ Marfori, he said that they have already reconciled.

Marfori also asked De Leon how “proud” he is to have “saved the relationship,” to which the actor answers: “Siguro naman, sa pagiging tatay na parang yun naman laging hinahangad para mapasaya yung pamilya.”
